School of Health Sciences

The School of Health Sciences aims to develop individuals who are leaders, practitioners, and scholars that exhibit professionalism, are concerned with the welfare of others, focus on research and using best practices, and are relationship-centered. A goal of the school is to become a leader that receives national recognition in providing students with a superior health sciences education. The school offers one associate degree program, six bachelor degree programs, four undergraduate minors, five master degree programs, and two doctoral programs in addition to 10 pre-professional health programs that allow for focusing on content that is necessary for desired post-undergraduate studies.

Master of Social Work

This accredited social work degree program in South Dakota prepares students to provide clinical services, conduct policy analysis, develop communities, complete organizational planning, and provide staff and administration supervision. Students can apply for an advanced standing status for bachelor degree holders in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Advanced standing students must complete 36 credit hours. Students who do not have a bachelor’s degree in social work will have a regular standing status and must complete 60 credit hours. 900 field experience hours are required of regular standing students while advanced standing students complete 500 hours. An online option is available for regular and advanced standing students.
