Cleveland State University
School of Social Work
The School of Social Work at Cleveland State University is home to an incredible addition to the roster of accredited social work degree programs in Ohio. This school is responsible for both the undergraduate and graduate social work programs available from the university. The department hosts full-time professors who all hold terminal degrees in the field of study and there are currently three Fulbright scholars working within the department as faculty members. The school is also home to the Cleveland State University/University of Akron Joint Master of Social Work Program which was created to ensure that all graduate students will become eligible for advanced licensure in the field.
Master’s Degree in Social Work
The Master of Social Work conferred by Cleveland State University comes with two options: traditional and advanced standing. Students will be able to complete the degree and all of its requirements in two to four years, depending if they study full-time or part-time. The degree focuses students on the social sciences and will teach them about the different concepts and theories that permeate the field. There are two specializations associated with the degree: clinical or advanced generalist. The difference between the specializations is that the advanced generalist option prepares students to intervene in situations involving individuals or groups while the clinical specialization has a stated focus on behavioral and mental health assessment. Both options offer a pathway to licensure for students who require primary or advanced licensure in the state. This is a professional program and its outcomes are aligned with the Council on Social Work Education with the main purpose of the degree being to distinguish its graduates as competent and compassionate professionals.

Department of Social Work
The Department of Social Work is committed to providing students with innovative opportunities to learn about their field, conduct scholarly research, participate in creative endeavors, and engage in community service in order to become well-rounded professionals who are well-versed in how to be of service to others. This department offers an undergraduate and a graduate degree in social work as well as a stand-alone certificate in Gerontology. Master of Arts in Social Work

Ohio University’s Department of Social and Public Health is a department that is focused on an interdisciplinary approach to the field, collaboration on research, and community and public health outreach. School of Social Work
The School of Social Work at the University of Akron offers two bachelor degrees and one master degree in the field and designs all of its programs to be as comprehensive as possible in order to meet the rigorous needs of the field and its professionals. The school also offers continuing studies programs for students who are licensed social workers in the state, enabling them to meet the educational requirement for renewing their licensure. The University of Cincinnati’s School of Social Work was established in 1978 and has since become a premier professional school that delivers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the field.
